The MVMMS Junior Red Raiders has become the flagship program for Melrose Football.  Established in March of 2010 by Friends of Melrose Football, the Melrose Recreation Department, and MVMMS, the Middle School program prepares players for a smooth and successful transition to the next level of play.

The program's success translated to the varsity level when the very first graduates of the Middle School program kicked off the start of the most successful decade in Melrose football history.  Since 2013 Jr. Raiders have gone on to help the varsity program secure 4 appearances in the Super Bowl, winning 2 state championships and numerous sectional and league titles.  Many of these players have also gone on to play football at the collegiate level (Amherst College, Becker College, Bentley College, Bridgewater State University, Brown University, Endicott College, Fitchburg College, Hamilton College, Annapolis-Navy, St. Anselms, Tufts University, Worcester State University, Worcester PolyTech, and more!)

Endorsed by Head Coach Morris the Junior Raiders work closely with the High School program.  Players have the opportunity to learn and execute the Melrose Varsity offensive and defensive playbooks while playing competitive football in the Eastern Massachusetts Middle School Football League.

 

Players also can participate in our in-season Strength and Conditioning Program under close supervision by qualified coaches.

​

The program is open to all 7th-grade & 8th-grade students regardless of their weight.  All home games are at Fred Green Field; locker room facilities are provided to players as well as bus transportation to away games.
